MEMBERSHIP TERMS
Draft — final version in preparation. Where these terms and the Rules differ, the Rules take precedence.
Who you are dealing with
Mishmish Cover has two parts. Mishmish Operations Ltd (the Operator) runs the membership: the website, sign-up, contributions, member services and the team who prepare requests. Mishmish Cover Limited (the Fund) is owned by its members, with no shareholders and no share capital; it holds the pooled contributions and makes grants under the Rules.
These terms are the agreement between you and the Operator. Your membership of the Fund is governed by the Rules, which you accept when you join.
Joining
You can join if you are 18 or over and live in the UK, and your cat is between 8 weeks and 10 years old, microchipped and vaccinated. Membership is per cat, and once your cat is in it renews for life.
You confirm that everything you tell us is accurate, including your cat’s date of birth, microchip number and vaccination record. We read the vaccination record to confirm the date of birth. If something does not match, we contact you before any payment is taken.
Contributions
The contribution is £29 a month for cats joining under 8 and £39 a month for cats joining aged 8 to 10. You can pay monthly or annually (£348 or £468 a year). The annual amount is twelve monthly contributions: no discount, no uplift.
The age band is fixed at joining for the membership year and moves up at renewal once your cat is 8 or older. Of every contribution, 35% is the Operator’s fixed fee for running the membership and 65% goes to the Fund.
Contributions are collected by card through our payment provider, Stripe. Your card number never reaches us.
Term, cooling-off and renewal
Membership runs for 12 months from your first payment. It renews automatically for a further 12 months unless you tell us before the renewal date that you do not want it to; we email you 30 days beforehand.
You have 14 days from your first payment to change your mind, for a full refund. After that the 12-month term is binding, whether you pay monthly or annually. If contributions stop before the end of the term, the unpaid balance may be deducted from any grant the Fund makes. See Refunds and cancellation for the detail.
Requests and grants
Membership gives you the right to ask the Fund for help with your cat’s vet bills, and to have every request considered fairly under the Rules. Grants are made at the Fund’s discretion, within the ceilings in the Rules: currently up to £2,000 per cat per membership year, above a £99 excess per condition, with a 20% co-payment from your cat’s 8th birthday.
A Grants Officer reads every request personally and aims to decide within 5 working days. Waiting periods (3 days for accidents, 14 for illness), the excess and what the Fund does not grant towards are set out in the Rules and on the What’s included page. Pre-existing conditions are excluded.
You pay your vet as normal. Grants are paid to your bank account.
Your responsibilities
Keep your details up to date, tell us if your cat’s circumstances change, send requests with the vet’s invoice and clinical history as soon as you can after treatment, and only ask for help with costs you have actually incurred. A request that turns out to be untrue ends the membership.
Suspension and cancellation
If a payment fails we retry it and email you. If it still fails, the membership is suspended and requests are not considered until it is brought up to date. You can cancel at any time by emailing hello@mishmishcover.com; what happens to the term depends on whether you are inside your first 14 days.
Changes
We may update these terms and the contribution amounts at renewal. We tell you at least 30 days before your renewal date, so you can decide whether to continue.
Liability and law
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. The Operator is not responsible for the treatment your vet provides. Decisions on grants are made by the Fund under the Rules, not by the Operator.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Complaints go to hello@mishmishcover.com first, and we reply within 5 working days. Disagreements about a grant decision go to internal review and then to an independent mediator, as the Rules describe.
Mishmish Cover is not an insurance company. The benefits of membership are discretionary and are subject to the Rules.
